Here are the answers to the most frequent questions you can ask yourself for a successful stay in Charente.

What are check-in and check-out time ?
For all accommodations, check-in is from 4pm, check-out is before 10am, except otherwise defined.
Is the price per bedroom/apartment or per person ?
Our rates are per bedroom or per apartment, all taxes are included.
Is breakfast included in the price and what type of breakfast ?
No. Breakfast is extra charge. We serve a buffet with fresh fruits, fruit juices, hot beverages, different bread types, viennoiserie, cereals, yogurt, honey, marmalade and home made jam, butter and eggs.
Is heating included in the price ?
Yes. For apartment rental, heating but also regular end of stay cleaning, fire wood (during the season).
Can we secure a booking ?
Yes. Booking is secured as soon as a down payment is made. Payment can be settled by a French bank cheque, a bank transfer or a credit card payment (Visa, Master, American Express). Credit card payment may be processed by telephone or on the Internet website of Le Relais with its online secured reservation system.
Can we settle the bill on arrival ?
You can make a pre-payment on your arrival, if you wish so, the extras will be charged upon departure.
Which languages are spoken at the reception ?
We speak French, English, Spanish and Malay languages.
How many floors are there in the building and do you have an elevator (lift) in the building ?
Almost all bedrooms and apartments are on ground floor. Le Messager is the only bedroom on the first floor. The suite La Caléche is reached with a dedicated staircase. The apartment Le Coche has its own private staircase. Le Relais is a 17th and 18th C. building on two floors and there is no elevator.
Are there quiet, private, romantic bedrooms ?
Yes, all bedrooms, the suite and apartments are very quiet and individually decorated with Asian or 19th century countryside furniture. Nevertheless, the bedrooms Le Patachon and Le Palanquin with their four-poster bed are perhaps the most appropriate for the romantic stays. Part of the apartment La Malle Poste, taken as a Suite with its mezzanine and its fireplace in the living room, is also a romantic and lovely nest.
Are linens and towels provided or do I need to bring my own ?
Linen, pool towels, bath towels and adult bathrobes are provided for all bedrooms, the suite and apartments. Baby cot are also provided with linen and blanket.
Do bedrooms/apartments have a terrace/courtyard ?
The apartment La Malle Poste has its private garden with a barbecue. The apartment Le Phaéton has its private terrace with a barbecue.
Do the rooms/apartments have a balcony ?
No the rooms have no balcony.
Do you have non smoking rooms/apartments ?
Yes. All bedrooms, the suite and apartments are non smoking. In case we have a smoking guest, he / she may smoke outside at any entrance of the building where sand ashtray are set.
Is there a TV in the rooms/apartments ? Are there international channels (satellite or cable TV) ?
Not exactly. Each apartment has a TV. The guest lounge has a TV. Bedrooms and the suite are equipped with a TV socket. Thus, on request, any bedroom or suite may have a TV.
There are 15 numeric French channels and 6 satellite channels to be selected from English, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese. All rooms, suite ans apartments have a Hifi with a DVD player.
Is there a telephone with direct dialing in the rooms/apartments ?
Yes, all bedrooms, the suite and apartments have a telephone. All apartments have a direct telephone line with a dedicated incoming number.
Is there air-conditioning in the bedrooms/apartments ? Is there any extra charge for this ? Is it seasonal ?
No, there is no air-conditioning, but the 17th and 18th C. walls are extremely well isolated, so there is very seldom a need of an extra room ventilator.
Is there a dining room where we could sometimes all dine together ?
Yes, Le Relais has a dining room dedicated for breakfasts and table d’hotes dinners. Private dinners may also be organized in Le Chai, the reception room.
Do you have an Internet/E-Mail point in the Property ?
All rooms, the suite and apartments have a broadband Internet connection (RJ 45 socket), at no charge. Le Relais offers also a WI-FI service covering the terrace and the swimming pool area, so our guests can connect their pc wherever they want. Moreover they can use the Internet computer kiosk in the guest lounge.
Is there a swimming pool ? When is it open ?
Yes. Our swimming pool is at your disposal on a terrace facing the vineyards. It is heated from mid April to mid October and is for our guests only. The pool is 15 meters in length and 1.40 meters deep.
Is parking or garage available ?
We have two car parks at Le Relais. One is closed at night, the other, unclosed, is facing the main entrance of Le Relais.
Where can we rent a car ?
In Angoulême or Cognac. We may also arrange it for you at Le Relais.
Are there grocery stores or supermarkets in the surroundings ?
Yes, there is a small supermarket in the small city of Segonzac and all the big ones in Angoulême. There are also weekly markets in Segonzac, Chateauneuf, Jarnac and Cognac.
Are there vineyards nearby ?
Yes. Better than this, Le Relais is surrounded by the best cognac vineyards. The two closest neighbours, who are 1 km away, are traditional distillers.
Where is the nearest airport ?
The nearest national airports is Cognac (20 km), the nearest international airport is Angoulême (35 km) with Ryanair operating, others are at Bordeaux (100 km), La Rochelle (110 km) and Poitiers (130 km).
Where is the nearest railway station ?
Jarnac (at 12 km) and Angoulême, TGV and railway station (at 30 km). From Montparnasse station, Paris to Angoulême takes 2h20 by TGV.
Do you have a pickup or shuttle service from and to the airport or the train station ?
Not exactly. Le Relais has no shuttle bus or limousine. But pick up service (taxi, minibus or limousine) may be arranged with a local taxi company.
Which is the nearest bus-stop ?
In the village, at 1,5 km from Le Relais. It has to be noticed that buses are very seldom in the vineyard area.
Is there a fitness center in the Property (Gym, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Turkish bath...) ?
Yes we do have a fitness and a sauna in the pool house. Guests may have an in-room massage from a reputed masseur on request. Access to sport activities is included in the price of the room, such as tennis, table tennis, mountain bikes.
Are pets welcome ?
No, they are not.
Is there a restaurant in the Property ?
Not exactly. As a luxury guest house we propose our Table d’hôtes where our guests enjoy delicate regional cuisine flavoured with cognac and pineau des Charentes. Please note that our table d’hôtes is reserved exclusively for our guests. Group lunches or dinners may be arranged in Le Chai, the reception room, with a caterer.
Can I connect my modem so that I can surf the Internet from my room/apartment ?
Yes, all rooms, suite and apartment have a broadband Internet connection (RJ 45 socket), at no charge. Le Relais offers also a WI-FI service covering the terrace and the swimming pool area, so our guests can connect their pc wherever they want.
